The CoForSet project: Congo Basin Forests: Biodiversity Offsetting Mechanisms

The CoForSet project is also coordinated by CIRAD. It builds on the platform created by CoForTips, to which it associates WWF, IUCN, and Biotope. The project started in May 2014, will run for three years, and is funded by the FRB and FFEM.The objective of CoForSet is to explore the ability of ecological offsetting to mitigate the adverse effects of mining projects. To achieve this goal, CoForSet is built around the CoForTips project, while keeping its own consistency. CoForSet mobilizes CoForTips models and platforms, and feeds back the sister project on (1) the emergence and technical arrangements of ecological offsetting (2) response strategies of stakeholders and (3) the environmental impacts of these mechanisms.
